Resources mentioned in the show…
I’m talking about money today. Many people don’t know this, but there was a time when Byron and I could barely afford groceries. We turned around aNd realized we were in over $30,000 in credit card, student loan and medical debt alone, with no plan or means to get out of it
I know money can be a really stressful topic, especially in family and marriage, but when we can gain financial freedom, it’s a game changer. So I’m talking today about the method we used to get out of that debt, gain power over our money, and get to where we are today.
What does financial freedom mean to you? Does it mean being able to make choices without the stress and pressure of debt and being able to afford the lifestyle you want? Does it mean a cushy job with a city view and driving your boat on the weekends? Does it mean not having to work so you can stay at home with your babies? Does it mean getting the resources and education you need to get your dream job? I don’t think there’s a wrong answer here. Financial freedom has meant a lot of different things to us over the years; including my burning desire to be able to buy popcorn when we went to the movies, or buying groceries on a prayer.
If you know my husband Byron and me or listened to our show together a few months ago, you’ll know that we own and operate 15 franchise restaurants and counting. Many people would count us as blessed and successful, and we feel that way too. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for the life that we have and that our kids don’t have to worry about where their next meal is going to come from.
But we haven’t always had the life that you see us living today. Byron and I both grew up with very financially insecure childhoods. There was no trust fund or inheritance from distant relatives to get us where we are today. What we have was built brick by brick, sacrifice after sacrifice, and one small, good decision at a time.
In this episode I’m talking about the difference between financial success, financial freedom, and the simple steps we took to get there. I 100% believe this changed our lives and got us where we are today, with a company that generates $20 million per year and employs over 300 people.
