Episode 97: 2020 Reading Challenge: How I’ve Read 45 Books this Year

November 30, 2020

This year I set an intention to read more, and with that I set a goal of reading 45 books. I don’t think I’ve ever read more than 5 or 10 books in a whole year, but go big or go home, right?

At the time of this writing and recording, I have finished 35 of my 45 books, with a month to go. I’m going to have to hustle, but I think I’m going to do it!

This episode is all about how I’ve gotten this far in my reading: the apps that have helped me save time, read more, and save money (reading this many books gets expensive, REAL fast). I share why I read, and even my top ten favorite books (so far).

Stay tuned to this post for a complete, updated list of the books I’ve read in 2020, and my favorites of the year!

My favorite reading apps:

Kindle
Libby
Goodreads
Audible

My tips for getting to 45 books in 2020:

Read fiction, listen to non-fiction
Read before bed every night
Start a new book within 24 hours of finishing the last one (I got this tip from a book I read!)
Utilize Goodreads for your “want to read” list – this helps prevent impulse buys, too!

My Top 10 Favorite Books of 2020:

10. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, by Suzanne Collins
9. Braving the Wilderness, by Brene Brown
8. Body Love, by Kelly Leveque
7. The Winemaker’s Wife, by Kristin Harmel
6. The Next Right Thing, by Emily P. Freeman
5. The Lazy Genius Way, by Kendra Adachi
4. Beneath a Scarlet Sky, by Mark T. Sullivan
3. The Power of Habit, by Charles Duhigg
2. Your Blue Flame, by Jennifer Fulwiler
1. The Nightingale, by Kristin Hannah

Tune to the podcast to hear a brief summary of my top ten favorites!
