Episode 70: Mom Friendship and the “Sister Joist,” with Angel Hepp

May 25, 2020

Angel Hepp is the founder and creator of the Sister Joist community. You’re gonna love when you hear what a sister joist is.

Angel is a momma to 2 little girls, and when she became a mom for the first time she says she started a journey of figuring out who she is and not who she ‘should be.’

She found herself giving her daughter advice that she knew she needed to take for herself too; like encouraging her daughter to be brave and courageous and to embrace all of who she was made to be regardless of the opinions of others. It was in those times that Angel started to see a stark contrast in what she was telling her daughter in comparison to the things she actually believed about herself. And over time, thanks to an AMAZING local moms group, Angel started to discover that it was possible to chip away at all the pressures she’d put on herself to be who she thought she should be and she could begin living in a way where who she was on the inside matches who she is on the outside.

Now, here’s the best part…..Angel wants to help fellow moms find the same thing. A supportive community was where it all started for her and that’s what she’s hoping to provide through the Sister Joist; a space to come just as the mom you are to get the encouragement you need, resources that will help quiet those loud worries of motherhood, and a few laughs thrown in too.  Angel and I talk about female friendship, finding community, and that oh so powerful phrase, “I thought it was just me…”

Episode 67: Blazing Your Own Trail, with Whitney Lou

May 4, 2020

What do Whiskey, Hamilton, working at home, perfectionism, checking boxes and blazing your own trail all have in common? My chat with my new friend, Whitney Lou.

Whitney is mom to three big kids and boss of one small biz. As a copywriter, she helps mombosses tell their stories to connect, sell, and serve. She walked away from a lot of “shoulds” to blaze her own trail, and her larger mission is to help other brave souls (including her kids) do the same.

We cover it all, including how to find your impact and moms and kids on social media. It was such a refreshing conversation between two new girlfriends, and I hope you feel like you’re sitting with us, drinking your whiskey – or coffee – of choice.
